Remote Learning Schedule
Starting Thursday, January 21 - Monday, February 1
Teachers will be sending details to students via Canvas, Remind, and/or email concerning the schedule.
Note: Online students will continue with their schedule already in place.

ATTENTION ASHE ONLINE PARENTS AND STUDENTS
We will be having a mandatory online orientation for the upcoming semester. You can access this orientation from this website by clicking the "For Parents" tab above then choose "Ashe Online Orientation" or you can click HERE. Then you should see the Ashe Online orientation. In this orientation, you will see a video going over the changes for the second semester along with videos showing how to navigate each teacher's canvas page. You will also see important information about accessing your child's grades and how to become a parent observer on canvas.
On Wednesday, January 6th we will be having a drive-thru where you can meet your teachers and pick up required materials. This will be between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm and then again from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. The pickup will be located at the upper end of the science building under the covered walkway. You will pull around where the buses are parked. This is also the location where you pick up books & snack attack.

Congratulation to Ashe County Middle School teacher, Mr. Dalton Lewis who has been selected as a finalist for the NCCAT 2020 Prudential Beginning Teacher of the Year Award.
Mr. Lewis will attend NCCAT’s Beginning Teacher of the Year program in April in Cullowhee. He will interview one more time and the winner will be announced that week.
Congratulation Mr. Lewis! We are wishing you good luck in April!

Ashe County Middle School Athletics 2020-2021
Ashe County Middle School is excited to make preparations for the 2020-2021 athletic year. We will be following the NCHSAA sports calendar and guidelines this year. We will begin voluntary basketball skill development sessions the week of November 9th.
Basketball skill development for boys will begin on Monday, November 9th from 6:15-7:45 in the ACMS gym.
Basketball skill development for girls will begin on Thursday, November 12th from 6:15-7:45 in the ACMS gym.
Sessions are limited to 23 participants.
All parents and students will need to complete the following paperwork to participate in skill development workouts.

Athletes who had a sports physical between 03/01/19 – 05/01/20 have been granted an extension for the 2020-2021 school year. Heart of the Husky participants from 2019 are still eligible under this extension. All others will need a current sports physical to participate. There is no EKG requirement for 2020-2021.
ALL PAPERWORK MUST BE TURNED IN TO MR. MASH AT ACMS BEFORE YOU CAN PARTICIPATE.

Attention ALL Plan B Parents and Students
Beginning Monday, September 21 all students will be provided a school lunch. Please check the menu on Ashe County Schools webpage or click HERE.
While they will be provided lunch at school, students can still bring their lunch from home.

Attention Parents
ACS has implemented a 1:1 student device program for the 2020-2021 school year. This means middle school students will be assigned a Chromebook computer to use at home and at school for the entire school year.
We are planning to issue Chromebooks during Open House.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Prior to your scheduled Open House, please watch the Parent Orientation video for the 1:1 implementation for devices posted below. This video is required in order for students to receive their Chromebook device.
Also below is a link to our new Student/Parent 1:1 Mobile Device Handbook. Parents will be asked to complete forms that include student signatures and pay $30 usage fee when picking up Chromebook.

ATTENTION Bus Riders
Student Bus assignments and pickup times are not completed at this time. Someone from ACMS will be in contact with parents who have provided a location for pickup or dropoff. Feel free to email Lindsey Williams at lindsey.williams@ashe.k12.nc.us with any questions or concerns requiring buses.

The Ashe County Board of Education held an emergency on January 14, 2021. The board voted unanimously to continue remote learning through February 1. The board will reassess this decision at the regularly scheduled February meeting. PreK students will continue to attend as normal.
